Our Story

Blenders & Bowls is the product two lifelong best friends, Erin and Kara, and their shared love of smoothie bowls. In 2010, these adventurous and free-spirited women moved from Hawaii to Austin. It didn’t take long for them to fall hard for the “live music capital of the world,” but something was missing — açaí — the Brazilian superfruit that they came to love in Hawaii because it made them feel amazing! What started as a mean craving for an açaí bowl led to the creation of Blenders and Bowls.

It was only a few short months between idea and creation. In a rush to share the flavor of açaí with Austin,  Erin and Kara opened Blenders and Bowls as a healthy mobile food truck. It was a big hit! Within 10 years, Blenders and Bowls grew from that single food truck to five brick and mortar shops.  Now, Blenders & Bowls is a household name in Austin, Texas!  They didn’t stop there! Erin and Kara are on a mission to share their famous recipes nationwide.

To date, Blenders and Bowls products are available in over 300 grocery stores across the country. The four recipes (in bowl and pint sizes) are now available in stores and online and are tried and true favorites from their Austin shops. They aren’t just delicious, they’re also made from high-quality ingredients prepared to exacting specifications. Best of all, they’re ready to eat straight out of the freezer, no blender required.

"THEY’VE PERFECTED THE BLENDERS AND BOWLS MENU WITH A DIVERSE OFFERING OF HEARTY SMOOTHIES BOWLS—BUT BEYOND THAT, THEY’VE MASTERED THE CHALLENGES OF RUNNING A BUSINESS AS BEST FRIENDS."

- Austin Fit Magazine

Erin and Kara grew up playing sports together in Santa Barbara, California. They remained close friends throughout college, and their business ideas started churning when Erin went to visit Kara in Hawaii one summer— and never left. After a summer filled with surfing and eating açai bowls, they decided to move to the mainland. They packed up everything they owned in one car, named P-Dogg, and moved to Austin, Texas, to open a food truck called Blenders & Bowls. They spent one month making smoothie bowl recipes in an apartment in downtown Austin which later became the menu at Blenders & Bowls cafes and now the recipes hitting freezers nationwide.

Ten years later, after endless events, grand openings, concerts, yoga classes, families and children, they are still besties (and so are their kids!) and Blenders & Bowls is still going strong.
